List consisting 170 Al Qaeda names and their fate published

   May 4, 3:48 pm

Washington, May 4 (ANI): A list consisting 170 names of Al-Qaeda members discovered in Osama bin Laden's compound in Pakistan during US raids has been published. It also discloses the fate of these terrorists.

According to The Telegraph, the name of bin Laden has been registered at 'Number 1' in the list, which is dated 7 August 2002.

Notes have been given beside names of followers, such as Abu Ubaydeh al-Banshiri, who 'died in Lake Victoria' in East Africa in 1996, recording their fates.

The list also provides the kind of pressures that bin Laden's followers faced. Abdul Rauf al-Maghribi 'broke down psychologically' and is recorded as betraying some of the "brothers in Saudi Arabia".

Four Al-Qaeda members are registered as being 'martyred in Chechnya' where they apparently travelled to fight the Russian army during the war in that breakaway region in the 1990s.

The Al-Qaeda chief, killed in a US raid a year ago, also mentioned about 'the need to stop some attacks due to the possible and unnecessary civilian casualties in Muslim countries.

Bin Laden described operations that killed Muslims as grave mistakes adding that it were important that no Muslim fell victim to the attacks.

Until end, bin Laden remained focused on attacking Americans and coming up with plots to kill U.S. leaders.

Bin Laden also seemed uninterested in recognizing Somali-based al-Shabab when the group pledged loyalty to him because he thought its leaders were poor governors of the areas they controlled and were too strict with their administration of Islamic penalties. (ANI)
