Iran arrests drug smugglers linked to killing of nuclear scientists: minister

   May 6, 4:35 pm

Tehran, May 6 (Xinhua-ANI): Iranian Intelligence Minister Heidar Moslehi said Sunday that some drug smugglers linked to the assassination of Iranian nuclear scientists have been arrested, the semi-official Mehr news agency reported.

"Some of the major drug smugglers who have links to the assassination of nuclear scientists have been identified and arrested," said the Iranian minister without further elaboration.

Over the past years, a number of academics and scientists related to Iran's nuclear program were assassinated. Iran accuses Israel of killing its nuclear scientists and blames the United States for being behind the terror acts.

The West suspects Iran's uranium enrichment is aimed at producing nuclear weapons, an allegation denied by Tehran, who said its nuclear program is only for peaceful use. (Xinhua-ANI)
