Could 'slain' Al-Qaeda No. 2 still be alive?

   Jun 11, 10:41 am

Dubai, June 11 (ANI): Two websites linked to the Al-Qaeda have announced that they will reveal a video message from the jihadist network's deputy leader Abu Yahya al-Libi, whom Washington claimed to have killed last week.

The messages posted by Ansar and Alfidaa websites suggested that Libi could still be alive, reports The Express Tribune.

"Soon, God willing: a visual message from the virtuous Sheikh Abu Yahya al-Libi, may God preserve him," read the message posted by Al-Qaeda's Sahab media arm on both sites, without elaborating on when the message was recorded, reports The News.

The United States said Libi, who was Al-Qaeda's number two, was killed in drone strike, in the weightiest blow to the terrorist group, since the killing of its chief Osama Bin Laden.

Libi, a cleric whose real name was Mohamed Hassan Qaid, escaped from U.S. custody in Afghanistan in 2005 and on at least one previous occasion was prematurely reported to have been killed in a U.S. drone strike. (ANI)
