Romney's wealth makes 20 pc Americans less likely to vote for him

   Jul 13, 4:24 pm

Washington, July 13 (ANI): Almost 20 percent Americans said that Mitt Romney's enormous wealth made them less likely to vote for him, according to a new poll.

According to the Gallup Poll, one in five registered voters, largely Democrats and Independents , said that they would not prefer to vote for Romney over his wealth.

However, 75 percent Americans said Romney's wealth would make no difference in their voting preferences.

A small percentage, 4 percent, said Romney's wealth made it more likely that they would vote for him, Politico reports.

"As you know Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney has a net worth of over $200 million. Does the fact that he is this rich make you more likely or less likely to vote for him, or does it make no difference?" the question from Gallup read.

Almost 37 percent of Democrats and 19 percent of independents said Romney's wealth made them less likely to vote for him.

Voters' income also played a major role in deciding whether they are less likely to vote for Romney on account of his wealth.

Twenty-eight percent of those who earn less than 24,000 dollars said they were less likely to vote for Romney on account that "he is this rich". (ANI)
