5.8-magnitude quake hits off east coast of North Island of New Zealand

Wellington, July 21 (Xinhua-ANI): An earthquake measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale jolted off the east coast of the North Island of New Zealand at 0454 GMT on Saturday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 20.00 km, was initially determined to be at 37.7549 degrees south latitude and 179.6765 degrees east longitude. (Xinhua-ANI)
