'Collateral damage' from drone strikes far less than reported in media: U.S. Senator

Washington, July 24 (ANI): Senate Committee on Intelligence chairperson Senator Dianne Feinstein has said that collateral damage from drone strikes was generally much lesser than reported in the media.

Senator Feinstein said the committee's staff has made 28 visits to various centres as part of their oversight of the drone program, and that the collateral damage from targeted strikes was far less than what was reported in the press, reports The Express Tribune.

She said the Abbottabad raid had created friction between the U.S. and Pakistan, adding that it was hard for many of the committee members to believe that Al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden had been living in the compound for over five years in a town that had a military community and yet no one knew.

She expressed the desire to see improved relations between U.S. and Pakistan, and added that there was a need to improve the levels of trust between the two countries. (ANI)
