Oz Uni car ad featuring skimpily clad model on Facebook branded 'sexist'

Sydney, July 24 (ANI): Monash University engineering students, which run Monash Motorsports, have been criticised by female students of the Melbourne-based University for posting a photo of a model sitting atop a Monash-sponsored car on Facebook.

Outraged female students described the photograph as ' sexist' and 'disgusting'.

"It is hard enough to be taken seriously in an engineering course without this being an acceptable view of women," The Age quoted a female student, as saying.

After the complaint, the photo was removed from Facebook, but unsurprisingly, inane comments had previously been left, such as: "Does she come with the car?"

A spokeswoman for Monash said the university 'condemns the use of the image' and the students would undergo training in equity and diversity.

'"We do not condone the objectification or disrespectful treatment of women. The Faculty of Engineering will also reconsider its support of the club," the spokeswoman said. (ANI)
