New York hotel maid's civil charges against Strauss-Kahn 'indefinitely suspended'

   Aug 4, 11:40 am

Sydney, Aug 4 (ANI): The legal battle involving shamed former International Monetary Fund (IMF) chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn and a New York hotel maid, who accused him of sexually assaulting her last year, has been indefinitely suspended.

David Bookstaver, a spokesman of the Superior Court of Bronx County, said that both parties were still negotiating in the civil suit and countersuit, and there was no need for a court appearance at the present time.

The lawyers for Strauss-Kahn and the maid Nafissatour Diallo were to have appeared on Tuesday before Judge Douglas McKeon in the Bronx County court, The Herald Sun reports.

Strauss-Kahn was arrested on May 14, 2011 on charges he had attacked Diallo in a room at the Sofitel Hotel and forced her to perform oral sex on him.

The criminal case against him was dropped due to doubts about the reliability of the maid's account.

In May 2012, the court allowed Diallo's civil law suit to go forward and dismissed Strauss-Kahn's lawyers' appeal that he had diplomatic immunity at the time of the alleged assault on the housekeeper.

Strauss-Kahn later filed a one-million-dollar countersuit against the maid. (ANI)
