Kuala Lumpur, Aug 11 (ANI): Sikh community in Malaysia has planned to hold a week of prayers for the victims of the recent shooting rampage in a gurdwara in the United States, which left seven dead.

Malaysian Gurdwara Council president Jagir Singh said 118 gurdwaras across the country would hold special prayers and ceremonies in solidarity with those killed in the attack.

"The Sikh community here is deeply saddened by the senseless attack committed against a place of worship," the Star quoted Singh, as saying.

"We have collectively agreed that all gurdwaras in Malaysia would conduct special prayers or ardas over the next week for the bereaved families and those injured in the Wisconsin attack," he added.

Religious youth organisation Sikh Naujawan Sabha Malaysia (SNSM) announced that their centre would hold prayers for the Wisconsin shooting victims.

The report quoted its president Pavandeep Singh, as saying that it had also erected a small shrine outside the centre with pictures of those slain so that people could pay their respects.

Singh added that the organisation would also join 200 Sikh bikers to raise awareness and show their support for the victims in Kuala Lumpur. (ANI)
