Spike Lee believes 'American expectations' for Obama's 1st term in office "were too high"

   Aug 11, 12:55 pm

Washington, Aug 11 (ANI): American filmmaker Spike Lee has said that the expectations Americans had for US President Barack Obama's first term "were too high".

"He was a savior, black Jesus. Look, I don't care who it was. Expectations were way too high," Politico quoted the actor-director, as saying during an interview.

Lee also accused Republicans of gridlocking Congress to prevent Obama from winning a second term.

"A Congress that's solidified as saying, 'Whatever you do, we're blocking that. We're blocking, and every breath we take, we're going to do what we can that you don't get a second term. Bottom line. And if it hurts America in the process, tough business'," the Malcom X maker said.

When asked if Obama has lived up to his promises, Lee said the Democrat is "not perfect", just like every other human being.

"Look, the man's not perfect. Who's perfect?" he questioned.

Obama, who has been a longtime fan of Lee, had said that he and his wife Michelle saw Lee's breakthrough film, "Do the Right Thing," on the couple's first date, the report said. (ANI)
