Keith Urban blames performing too "hard" at concerts for throat surgery

Washington, Nov 18 (ANI): Keith Urban has revealed that performing too "hard" during his recent concerts were the reason for his upcoming throat surgery.

The 44-year-old Australian country star announced earlier this month that he will be undergoing the procedure and won't be doing any shows for rest of the year in order to recuperate.

Urban has, however, assured fans that the operation is not dangerous.

"I just went a little hard on this tour, and got a polyp on my vocal cords, so (I'm) going to have that taken off. At some point during the tour I haemorrhaged into a vocal cord and then this little polyp formed and it's not going anywhere," Contactmusic quoted him as telling on the 'Kyle and Jackie O' radio show.

"(The operation) is less dangerous now than ever before. It's not an uncommon thing, and we've certainly been seeing a lot of it recently too, but I think the technology has improved and so the success of this kind of surgery is much greater now than before. I'm hoping I can continue that tradition!" he added. (ANI)
