Kurt Cobain worked on full solo album before suicide, says Eric Erlandson

Wellington, Apr 17 (ANI): Former 'Hole' guitarist Eric Erlandson has claimed that 'Nirvana' frontman Kurt Cobain was working towards recording a solo album before he killed himself in 1994.

Cobain reportedly headed towards this venture while working with different people.

"[Kurt] was headed in a direction that was really cool. It would have been his White Album," Stuff.co.nz quoted him as telling US TV station Fuse, referring to the Beatles' self-titled magnum opus.

"That's really what he was going towards, a solo album but working with different people.

"I was really excited about some of the stuff he was working on. I got to see him play it in front of me. That's why I was really sad [when he died]. I was like, 'Oh man, not only are you cutting off a life, but a message to the world, a musical path is just left with ... Bush and all this other stuff [laughs]. He was cut short. Who knows where the music would have gone."

Erlandson said that there was a chance an album of rough Cobain demos could someday be released.

"I heard some talk about somebody putting together some raw, rough acoustic thing," he said.

The guitarist added that he wasn't in control he wished "something would come together."

Last Friday Hole's mid-90s line-up comprising of Courtenay Love, Erlandson, Melissa Auf der Maur and Patty Schemel reunited at the Public Assembly in New York for a two-song set, including Miss World and Over the Edge, at an after-party.

The performance marked the first time the four members performed together since 1995. (ANI)
