Apr 29, 1:58 pm
Ahmedabad, April 29 (ANI): Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi promoted his forthcoming crime thriller film 'Jannat 2', based on illegal arms trade, in Ahmedabad.Bollywood film director and producer Mahesh Bhatt and debutant director Kunal Deshmukh were also present on the occasion. The film's plot revolves around the illegal arms trade in northern parts of India.Speaking to mediapersons on Saturday, Bhatt said the issue is serious but has been tackled in a light hearted way."The character of Sonu Dilli, played by
Emraan Hashmi, is a man who has all the knowledge which he has not gathered from books or degrees but has gathered that knowledge by living on roads. But he has a heart of gold within his body, where love blossoms. This is the story of such a man and this movie will make you laugh, will keep you on the edge of the seat and will also make you cry," said Bhatt.Hashmi said he has received acceptance from audience in the last two-three years."This is an evolution of cinema; they have started accepting different kinds of subjects and I think 'Jannat' is a testament to that. Seven years back, the movies that I used to work in was called bold cinema. People from the industry criticised me, some conservative people used to criticise me, they all want to watch 'Jannat'. So, it's an evolution and people who ha shun me off and my cinema, have now accepted 'Jannat 2' as an all round mainstream film," said Hashmi. The film is directed by Kunal Deshmukh, who made his debut with 'Jannat-1', which was a blockbuster at the box office. The movie also stars debutant actress Esha Gupta as the main lead who startled everyone with her charms at the event. The former Miss India finalist Gupta would make her entry in tinsel ville with this film.Hashmi went gaga praising Gupta saying she is a talented actress and has added emotional conflicts to the film."She (debutant actress Esha Gupta) is very beautiful and talented as well. This is her first film and she has played a very difficult character for the first film. The character of Janavi is a very difficult character; it's a character of a doctor, which she has played very well. I think she has almost played like a season performer and has introduced many emotional conflicts in the film and she has added something fresh in the film," said Hashmi. The movie also stars Randeep Hooda and Imran Zahid and is slated for a worldwide release on May 04, 2012 is believed to face a tough competition with the Indian Premier League (IPL).Music director Pritam Chakraborty has composed the music of the film, which is already a hitting the charts. He has tried his best to strike a chord with the audiences as Hashmi's movies are seen as a musical treat. The makers of the film undertook intensive research in order to portray real life characters on the screen. The 'Bhatt Camp', Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt have produced the movie.
