Dustin Hoffman saves jogger's life

   May 8, 5:42 pm

London, May 8 (ANI): Dustin Hoffman helped save the life of a jogger who collapsed with a heart attack in Hyde Park.

The 74-year-old actor dialled 999 and tended stricken Sam Dempster when he collapsed.

"I want to say 'Thank you' to Dustin Hoffman. He saved my life," the Sun quoted Dempster, who is recovering, as saying.

Lawyer Dempster had suffered a heart attack like miracle soccer ace Fabrice Muamba.

His heart stopped while he was running - as happened to Bolton star Muamba in an FA Cup tie at Spurs in March.

Muamba's life was saved by pitch-side medics - but Dempster's hero was quick-thinking film legend Hoffman who saw him fall and rang 999 immediately.

The 'Meet the Fockers' star then stayed by his side for 15 minutes as paramedics carried out CPR.

"Great job, guys," the actor said after Sam's heart started beating again.

Dempster was running at 9am in London's Hyde Park ten days ago when his heart gave out. Rain Man star Hoffman was taking a walk - and dashed to help.

"I have no memory of what happened. The paramedics told me I had been saved by Dustin Hoffman. It's unbelievable," he said.

The actor later told paramedics Dempster had been frothing at the mouth and staggering. The jogger collapsed, smashing his face on the ground. (ANI)
