The Rolling Stones bowing out at Glastonbury Festival

London, June 17 (ANI): Legendary musicians 'The Rolling Stones' are set to bow out in sensational style, with a last farewell performance at Glastonbury next year.

The band, whose four members have a combined age of 272 years, will be playing on the coveted Sunday night headline slot on the Pyramid stage after talks with festival organisers Michael and Emily Eavis.

This will be their first and only performance at the famous Somerset festival which attracts about 175,000 fans.

According to sources close to the band, the appearance is expected to be the final date in a "handful" of shows in Britain and America in 2013 which they see as their true 50th anniversary, before they finally retire from the live arena

"All four members have agreed that next year is the right time to have one final hurrah and put on the gig of their lives," the Mirror quoted a source as saying.

"It's a case of now or never, and obviously Glastonbury is the most important -festival on the circuit. Everybody's incredibly excited... it's a final bow," the source said.

The band, whose song 'The Last Time' hit the top spot in 1965 are said to be unwilling to embark on another of their record-breaking world tours.

The 68-year-old, Mick Jagger has said that he doesn't want to be away from his family for so long, and the 68-year-old Keith Richards, has given up the hell-raising lifestyle that was a big part of touring.

The 71-year-old, Charlie Watts, has never been a fan of life on the road.

However, the 65-year-old, Ronnie Wood, gave a strong hint that the band was preparing a comeback.

"It looks like we are going to be doing more stuff," Wood said.

Although the band played their first gig in July 1962, Richards has said that "The Stones always considered '63 to be 50 years, because Charlie didn't actually join until January."

Richards had also hinted that ex-bass player Bill Wyman, who left in 1992, might join in, saying that he was "up for it" and the issue had been discussed.

Wyman had been replaced by US session player Darryl Jones, who was never made a full member.

The Stones are releasing a -photo album to mark their 50 years since their first gig. 'The Rolling Stones: 50' will feature 700 shots with words from the band on their history, and is going to be released on July 12. (ANI)
