NFL tops eBay's list of most shopped items for 2011

Washington, Dec 25 (ANI): The
National Football League has topped the list of the third annual eBay "Top Shopped Report" for 2011.According to the world's largest online marketplace, 1,837,834 pieces of memorabilia were sold under the NFL keyword in 2011, prompting eBay to declare pro football the top pop culture obsession of the year.Young ' Harry Potter' wizards took the second spot on the list with 446,915 items sold, while the vampires from ' Twilight
' came in third by selling 297,330 items. On the fourth spot of the list was popular video game series 'Call of Duty', selling 272,821 products, narrowly beating out the Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers. The team, which like other NFL teams has its own category on eBay, rounded out the top five with 234,089 items sold in 2011.The rest of the top 10 as picked by eBay included: The iPad, Sade, Justin Bieber, 'Glee' and Charlie Sheen."EBay sales are a direct indicator of what Americans are most fascinated by and uniquely reflects the cultural zeitgeist," Live Science quoted eBay spokeswoman Karen Bard Sayah as saying. "From the latest video games and tech devices to royal wedding memorabilia and 'Winning' T-shirts, shoppers know that whatever it is they're coveting, they can find it on eBay," she added.The eBay picks for the Top Shopped and Pop Culture moments of 2011 were picked "from items pertaining to pop culture phenomena across multiple categories."
