Dannii Minogue has separated from the father of her son, Kris Smith, just a year after denying rumours that their relationship was on the rocks over reports of infidelity. The couple, who had been together for four years and have a 21-month-old son, Ethan, confirmed the relationship was over in messages posted on their Twitter accounts, news.com.au reported. It was reported that Smith, a former English rugby player, had moved out of their home in a Melbourne suburb.Rumours of a split
had been swirling after Smith changed his profile message on Twitter."It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice... not really sure what my job is anymore... but I do know I love my boy more than life..." the message said.Minogue too broke the news of her separation on the microblogging site."It brings me great sadness to tell you that Kris and I have separated. We still care for each other and ask for privacy at this difficult time, in particular for our son Ethan who remains our number one priority," she tweeted."Hi Tweet peeps. Needing to retreat for a while. Thank you for your ever loving continued support," she added later. The Sun reported that the ' X Factor' judge had tried to keep the relationship alive for the sake of her son."She is utterly distraught that her dreams have come crashing down around her. Smith, a model and TV sports presenter in Australia, moved to Melbourne for her. However, their relationship showed signs of strains, mostly through their tweets."Never chase love. If it isn't given freely by another person, it's not worth having," she had tweeted in May after it was reported he had cheated on her.Smith too had tweeted that, "You don't know what you've got til it's gone".Days later the couple issued a statement denying that their relationship was facing troubles."Thanks for your concern.
