Divorce not an option, says Khloe Kardashian

   May 3, 3:11 pm

New York. May 3 (ANI): Khloe Kardashian, who is knowingly taking a step back from the limelight this summer, has said that taking care of her marriage had a lot to do with the decision.

The 27-year-old TV persoanlity got engaged to basketball player Lamar Odom just nine days after their first date in 2009, and exchanged vows within a month afterward.

"I'm a modern girl, but you should put your husband first," the New York Daily News quoted her as telling People magazine.

"I like to think divorce is not an option," she said.

The couple's marriage has been solid despite nay-sayers because the reality star says she's learned to "prioritize".

"I think what makes a marriage work is honesty, loyalty and prioritizing.

"And we just wanted to prioritize a little. Life is short," she said.

Khloe's sister Kim is currently in the midst of an ugly divorce battle with ex Kris Humphries, whom she was married to for a mere 72 days.

"I have old-fashioned marriage values.

"Nowadays people don't take marriage as seriously as they should, but when you share bank accounts and homes and assets, it is serious," she said.

Though the couple will be taking a hiatus from shooting their E! reality series 'Khloe and Lamar', they will continue to make appearances on 'Keeping Up With the Kardashians'.

"I feel like we've been on a whirlwind and doing back-to-back shows," she told 'Entertainment Tonight'.

"We just want to take a little time off for Lamar to be with family, kids, basketball, Olympics, you never know.

"We have a lot on our plate right now," she said.

According to TMZ, Odom, who made a huge move from the L.A. Lakers to the Dallas Mavericks last December and parted ways with the team in April, will be living in Los Angeles full-time and has hired trainers to improve his game in time for the Olympics.

"We just want to be happy," he told E! Network's Upfront Event.

"We'll take our time and we'll get back to it when it's time," he said.

And Khloe, Odom's "cheerleader", has his back.

"We just wanted a little pause.

"Part of being married is knowing when your husband needs your support," she added. (ANI)
