Ferguson hopes Newcastle beat Man City to give Man U initiative in PL title race

London, May 4(ANI): Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is hoping Newcastle United beat title rivals Manchester City at the Sports Direct Arena, which would tilt the Premier League title race in his club's favor if they beat Swansea City at Old Trafford.

Ferguson also admitted that unless Newcastle can avoid defeat against Manchester City on Sunday, United would have blown a golden opportunity to win their 13th Premier League title.

Ferguson is confident that lot is still at stake for Newcastle to play for, as they are still fighting for an automatic qualification for the Champions League, and striker Papiss Cisse's amazing scoring hot streak could prove decisive in their game against City.

"They have a tough game. They have to win at Newcastle - that's the challenge for them. We will be aware of what is going on because everyone will be watching it, hoping it works for us. Newcastle is a very difficult place to go and they are playing well," The Daily Express quoted Ferguson, as saying.

"They (Newcastle) are fighting for a top-four position and have a chance. They are a point behind Arsenal and have the same number of points as Tottenham with two games left," he added.

" Newcastle lost, incredibly, to Wigan by four goals and then galvanised themselves to go and win 2-0 at Chelsea. Winning at Chelsea is a very difficult job. We hadn't done it for eight years, so their form is good and it will not be an easy game for City," he said. (ANI)
