England stars Swann, Broad escape punishment over showing dissent

London, May 4(ANI): England pair Graeme Swann and Stuart Broad would both escape punishment for showing dissent when given out in their first county championship appearance of the season for Nottinghamshire at Old Trafford.

Swann for a short time stood at his ground after being given out leg before wicket to Lancashire left-arm spinner Simon Kerrigan, looking pointedly at his bat as if to suggest he had hit the ball.

Hours after this incident, Swann celebrated his beloved Newcastle's 2-0 win at Chelsea and Papiss Cisse's amazing goals. He then took to twitter and risked the rage of Lord's.

"I would happily be given out bat before wicket every day if it meant Cisse scored two goals like that," The Daily Mirror quoted Swann, as tweeting.

Last night an England and Wales Cricket Board spokesman confirmed no disciplinary action would be taken against Swann, whose cricket-related tweets are usually comic asides rather than rants.

Broad, playing his first match since his tour of Sri Lanka was curtailed by a calf injury, will also be spared despite voicing his displeasure at being given out for a duck in his comeback innings. (ANI)
