Drogba prefers playing with two strikers upfront to tackle one-on-one with defenders

   May 5, 4:27 pm

London, May 5(ANI): Chelsea striker Didier Drogba has said he doesn't like playing the role of a lone striker during a game, and prefers to pair up with another striker upfront, which would help them during one on one with the defenders.

The man who scored the lone goal in the home win over Barcelona is something of a Wembley wonder, as he has scored in seven of his nine appearances at the stadium.

"It's not a role I really enjoy, because playing one against two defenders is very difficult. Some people don't understand that and sometimes I get criticism. That's football. I'd prefer to play with two strikers up there, so it's one on one with the defenders. That's a very different game for me," The Daily Star quoted Drogba, as saying.

Drogba, though, does not like evading a physical challenge and is sure to give Liverpool's defenders plenty to think about. But he admitted the gutsy approach was something he had to pick up in the rough and tumble of the game over here.

"When I came here, I didn't know I had that game in me. I learned that over the years. To last in this league, you have to adapt to the physical condition of the other players, to the pace of the game," Drogba said. (ANI)
