'Shamed' Pak bowler Asif says Butt is lonely and depressed in prison

   May 8, 4:42 pm

Islamabad, May 8(ANI): After getting out of a British jail on Friday, banned Pakistan bowler Mohammad Asif has said former captain Salman Butt is a lonely and depressed man.

Asif revealed that he was sharing a room with Butt in prison for about three months, and the former Pakistan captain is waiting anxiously for his release.

"Salman and I were sharing the same room for three months in the prison and he wished me good luck on the day of my release," The Dawn quoted Asif, as saying.

"But he (Salman) is a lonely man and looked very depressed on the day of my release from jail. He has been quite miserable at times and is anxiously awaiting his release," he added.

HMP Canterbury is a men's prison, which has an arrangement that allows two foreign nationals in the same room.

Both Asif and Salman along with young pacer Mohammad Aamir were found guilty of involvement in a spiteful spot-fixing scam at Lord's Test in 2010. (ANI)
