PCB signals desire to have specialist teams for different forms of cricket
May 8, 4:42 pm
Islamabad, May 8(ANI): The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has hinted they might think over the idea of having different teams for three separate formats of cricket
with specialist players. The signal from the PCB clearly signals captain Misbahul Haq, despite a decent winning ratio, will not be in Pakistan's Twenty20 squad anymore."This is the era of specialist teams and we're giving this idea a serious thought. The selection committee will have the final say and if we need to change captains keeping our aims and plans in mind then we will think over that as well," the Express Tribune quoted
PCB Chairman Zaka Ashraf, as saying."Some players are tailor-made for specific formats. Specialized teams are being made all over the world," he added."I can't say for sure if we'll have three different captains but if the selection committee and coach Dav Whatmore have advice on this matter, I will look at it. Twenty20, especially, is a fast-paced game and players should be selected based on that," he said.Shahid Afridi and Mohammad Hafeez are the likely replacements to lead the national squad in the Twenty20 format if Misbah is dropped.
