Clijsters to retire in September after the US Open

London, May 23 (ANI): Belgian tennis player Kim Clijsters will retire in September after the U.S. Open, it has emerged.

The former world No. 1 had previously announced that this would be her final season.

"Flushing Meadows is where I've enjoyed my greatest triumphs and it is a special place," The Sun quoted the three-time winner, as saying.

Clijsters, 28, who is battling a hip injury, hopes to recover in time for Wimbledon and the London Olympics. (ANI)
