Olympian Grant Hackett destroyed own home in drunken spree

Melbourne, May 27 (ANI): Explosive images have surfaced which show Olympic champ Grant Hackett unleashing destruction on his own home in an alcohol-fuelled rage.

The Sunday Telegraph has revealed for the first time, 15 photos that were taken after police received a distraught emergency call in the early hours of October 30, 2011, from Hackett's singer-songwriter wife Candice Alley, who was at home with their two-year-old twins Charlize and Jagger.

The photos reveal the extent of the 32-year-old's rampage, which occurred after Derby Day.

Hackett has admitted that he was sorting out "private issues" with his wife before squads of police cars descended on his Melbourne apartment on Sunday night.

The couple announced their split on May 3 after Hackett got involved in another alcohol-fuelled night at Crown Casino during and after the Logie Awards.

The images from last October show, one side of an interior door ripped apart, Alley's beloved grand piano overturned, plastered walls punctured with large holes from punches, equipment on the ground, a toppled Christmas tree, smashed picture frames and bottles of alcoholic spirits scattered across the floor.

It has been reported that when police arrived at Hackett's home, Alley and the children were unharmed but distraught and shaking with fear. It is understood officers were concerned for the safety of Alley and the children. Alley allegedly told police he was physically violent towards her.

The incident had happened after Hackett returned to the Freshwater Tower apartment on Southbank at midnight, after a day of hosting the Westpac Sports and Entertainment marquee in the Birdcage at Flemington on Derby Day. He also had attended two parties at Crown Casino.

"all a bit of an unfortunate misunderstanding," he said at that time. (ANI)
