London 2012 Olympics to salute Britain's win over Hitler during opening ceremony

London, June 11 (ANI): The London Olympics 2012, to be held next month, will commemorate Britain's triumph over Nazi Germany during a patriotic opening ceremony.

The show will highlight the country's role in world events over the past 100 years, reports the Daily Mail.

The Prime Minister was said to be delighted with the patriotic tone of the event.

The top-secret opening ceremony worth 27million pounds, is reportedly being orchestrated by film director Danny Boyle.

It has also emerged that more than 10,000 members of the opening ceremony cast have switched rehearsal venues from a film studio to the site of a former Ford car plant in Dagenham, east London, so that practices can be 'scaled up'.

The location is guarded 24 hours a day by security personnel, and a huge banner strapped to a perimeter fence allows little opportunity for other to see what is happening behind the hoardings.

The Prime Minister personally sanctioned a doubling of the budget for the opening and closing ceremonies from 40 million pounds to 81 million pounds.

Set and stadium costs for the opening ceremony alone are believed to be 27 million pounds, even before taking account of expenses for the cast.

The opening ceremony will feature up to 60,000 people, including 900 schoolchildren.

Former Beatles star Sir Paul McCartney , who was the headline attraction at the Queen's Diamond Jubilee concert last week, will perform at the opening ceremony. (ANI)
