Lampard 'feels bad' over Champions League win being 'unlucky' for Uncle Harry

   Jun 17, 3:42 pm

London, June 17 (ANI): Chelsea striker Frank Lampard has expressed regret over his Champions League triumph which could have cost his uncle Harry Redknapp his job as Tottenham boss.

Redknapp was controversially axed last week in the wake of Chelsea's historic Champions League win in Munich, in which the dramatic victory over Bayern Munich last month saw the Blues clinch Champions League football next season, but bounced Spurs down into the Europa League.

The Stamford Bridge star said that was cruel on Harry, who deserved top-flight European action after finishing fourth.

"I feel really bad for Harry, especially as my biggest success in football turned out so unlucky for him. He deserved Champions League football. He and Spurs finished fourth. That's why I'm still shell-shocked by what's happened," The Sun quoted Lampard, as saying

"I have some mates who are Spurs fans and they are desperately disappointed. They remember how they were rock-bottom when Harry came in. Then, all of a sudden, they're playing in the Champions League and competing at the top," he added. (ANI)
