Dutch striker Zenden believes Van Persie may leave Arsenal to win silverware

London, June 17 (ANI): Dutch footballer Bolo Zenden believes Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger may be preparing for life without his star striker Robin van Persie , as he is close to walking out on Arsenal in order to win the silverware a player of his ability deserves.

Zenden, who thinks Van Persie's refusal so far to sign a new deal looks ominous for Gunners fans, believes Wenger may be preparing for life without his star striker after snapping up Germany ace Lukas Podolksi and closing in on Montpellier's France international Olivier Giroud.

"Arsenal is Robin's club and we know he wants so much to win things there but it hasn't happened for seven years now. So, you can forgive him for looking to his future," the Daily Star quoted Zenden, as saying.

"He has so much talent and deserves success and you feel that the fact he hasn't signed a new deal or talked too much about it would mean he is seriously considering moving on," he added.

Van Persie, 28, has a year remaining on his contract but has yet to commit to a new deal in north London.

Arsenal have not lifted the Premier League trophy since the 2003-04 season and Zenden, who doesn't see The Emirates club as title-contenders insisted that even if Van Persie stays in north London, he can't inspire the Gunners to win anything other than a cup.

" Arsenal don't have enough to win the Premier League even with Robin. That is only because Man City, United and Chelsea are in their way, but they can win something - maybe a cup," he said. (ANI)
