Lahore, June 19 (ANI): Former Pakistan Test cricketer Abdul Qadir has stressed the need to revive the stalled Pak-India cricket series stating that it is imperative to hold the matches on a regular basis.

"Pak-India series is one of the greatest cricket events at international level which has more importance than the Ashes played between arch-rivals England and Australia . The series will help the cricket in many ways, by identifying new stars of the game, lure sponsors and generate the interest of millions of people on both the sides," The Nation quoted Qadir, as saying.

"Pak-India cricket events have their own significance to foster relations between the two countries, bringing closer people on both sides. These series should take place on regular basis, no matter Pakistan play in India or India visit Pakistan or both the countries play at a neutral venue," he added.

He said it is a positive sign that both the countries are showing seriousness in resuming cricket ties.

"The more Pakistan and India play, the better it will be for the cause of cricket in the sub-continent and will help both the countries remain among the top teams of the world," he said. (ANI)
