Pakistan chief selector slams team for 'inconsistency' and 'lack of professionalism'

Islamabad, June 20(ANI): Pakistan chief selector Iqbal Qasim has slammed the national team for their inconsistent performance and for showing poor professionalism during their tour of Sri Lanka.

Pakistan drew the two Twenty20 series 1-1 and has already lost the five-match one-day series 3-1 against Sri Lanka. Qasim believes the team's inconsistent performance in various fields of the game has cost them the one-day series.

"I don't just think it's the batting where Pakistan has been lacking in Sri Lanka. There has been a distinct lack of consistency in all areas of their cricket. One day the fielding is outstanding, the next game it's very poor and the boys are dropping simple catches," Qasim said during an interview with PakPassion.net.

"The same with the batting, one day it clicks, the next day it misfires. Consistency is an area of Pakistan's cricket that is really lacking at the moment. It's time for individuals to accept responsibility and to realise that they have to be more consistent. The thought process of the Pakistani cricketer has to change, they have to become more professional. If this does not occur then there will not be improvement," he added.

"There are some big names in the Pakistan limited overs teams and it's high time those big names started to add consistency and professionalism to their cricket as both were lacking in Sri Lanka recently," he said.

Qasim further added: "This inconsistency has been hurting Pakistan cricket for many years and it's about time it was eradicated and I am confident that with the professional coaching set up we have in place we will see some positive changes soon." (ANI)
