Arthur wants Oz cricketers to play like mongrels in last ODI against England
Jul 9, 11:27 am
London, July 9 (ANI): Disgusted with the one-sided demolition of Australia by the Alastair Cook-led England side, Coach Mickey Arthur
wants his players to play like mongrels in the last of the five ODIs between the two sides.England cruised to a 3-0 series lead following their thrashing of
Australia by eight wickets on Saturday. The third ODI was rained off at Edgbaston, stopping England gaining a 5-0 whitewash and going top of the world rankings in all three formats. The victory extended Cook's sequence to nine 50-over wins on the trot and secured their seventh straight series wins at home in the ODIs.Arthur said: I'm disappointed and really shocked. We haven't played anywhere near our real potential, but that could be because we haven't been allowed to. We haven't found a way of putting England under pressure, and that is infuriating."I've just had a really good meeting with the team, a hard meeting. We spoke some home truths. I want to see how they respond in the next match on Tuesday. There's absolutely no issue with their effort and the way they have trained."I thought our preparation leading up to the first ODI was as good as I've ever seen a team prepare. We were ready. But nobody has transformed their training potential to something substantial in the middle. That's left me looking for some answers. England hasn't looked troubled. I want to see a bit of mongrel come out, I really do. We've been submissive this whole series. We've allowed ourselves to be bullied."With Brett Lee and Shane Watson suffering calf injuries on Saturday, the Aussies have called up left-arm fast bowler Mitchell Starc, who is currently playing for Yorkshire.
