Two female karate players become first to represent Pakistan in Asian Championship

Karachi, July 11 (ANI): Two Pakistani women will become the first female karate players to represent the country in a continental tournament, after they were named in the eight-member squad for the Asian Championship.

"These women have a lot of talent and we are here to promote them. We have taken a huge step but I have realistic expectations. They are talented and will benefit from the experience and exposure," The Express Tribune quoted Pakistan Karate Federation president Mohammad Jehangir, as saying.

The pair, Beenish Akbar and Kulsoom, will be accompanied by six male players, including Asian Karatedo gold medallist Saadi Abbas, who is Pakistan 's hope for a medal in the 67 kg category. (ANI)
