McCullum to bat at No.3, keep wickets for New Zealand

   Jul 13, 3:56 pm

Wellington, Juy 13 (ANI): Brendon McCullum is likely to bat at No.3 and keep wickets for New Zealand in Sunday's fourth one-day international against the West Indies, after incumbent keeper BJ Watling was ruled out with injury.

Watling strained a quadricep during the 88-run win at St Kitts and might also be out for the final match of the five-game series.

A teams spokesman said Watling's injury was similar to one sustained by medium pacer Andrew Ellis, earlier in the tour.

McCullum joined the team on Wednesday, which wasn't judged to be sufficient time to play the following day, stuff.co.nz reports.

Allrounder Jacob Oram said that Watling's misfortune would probably result in McCullum returning to the roles he performed during New Zealand's domestic summer.

New Zealand trail the West Indies 2-1 in the series but are confident of squaring on Sunday, said Oram. (ANI)
