Murray and his mother ready to face High Court battle 'vigorously'

London, July 16(ANI): British number one tennis player Andy Murray and his mother Judy are ready to vigorously fight against action at the High Court in London after legal proceedings were filed against them.

Details of the case are not completely available as yet, but it is understood to involve an agreement that the Murray and his mother made before the player rose through the rankings and achieved his estimated 24 million pound fortune.

David Cody filed the proceedings in the Royal Courts of Justice, in the Strand against Andy and Judy Murray.

"This claim appears to relate to an agreement negotiated by Andy's then manager/agent many years ago," The Telegraph quoted a spokesman for Andy and Judy Murray, as saying.

"On the basis of the very vague information which has been provided, it would appear to have no merit whatsoever and will be vigorously defended. It is also a fact that the claim has not yet been served on Andy or his lawyers," the spokesman added.

The identity of the litigant is not known, but there is an American tennis coach called David Cody, who worked with Jeremy Bates, a previous British number one.

At the Royal Courts of Justice, the claim was issued in the Chancery division, which deals with complex issues, including intellectual property and copyright disputes, probate, and professional negligence. (ANI)
