'Shocked' steward reveals he got job at London Olympics without being vetted

   Jul 18, 5:43 pm

London, July 18 (ANI): Another security shocker has emerged before the London Olympics as customer service manager Tim Jones has revealed he wasn't properly vetted by the organisers before getting the job.

Jones said he applied for a job at the Games a year ago, but had not been able to contact organisers despite 200 phone calls and emails.

Jones said an official finally contacted him just a day before a final training course was due to be held. He could not attend the course at such short notice because of his full-time job at a housing association.

But days later, Jones received a letter asking him to report for duty at the stadium at noon next Wednesday.

"They told me my pass was available for collection at the accreditation center and I will be allocated an ID number at a later date," The Daily Express quoted Jones, as saying.

"What concerns me is they have no idea who I am, or what I look like. I could be a terrorist for all they know," he added.

The steward manager working on behalf of the Millennium Stadium and the Welsh Rugby Union contacted Jones. (ANI)
