Boris Becker treats family to Ibiza holiday amid financial crisis
Jul 19, 5:40 pm
London, July 19 (ANI):
Boris Becker put aside his embarrassing financial problems to treat his family to a sunshine break in Ibiza. The former tennis ace, who just finished his stint as a commentator at Wimbledon, was seen enjoying the Spanish vacation with wife Lilly and son Amadeus this week, the Daily Mail reported. The family soaked up the sun and played on the beach.Becker, 44, was seen applauding his two-year-old son as he played with a ball on the beach. Amadeus
wore a rash vest and hat while his famous father wore shorts and a T-shirt while Lilly wore white sheer fringed dress and fedora and her black bikini was just visible beneath the fabric. The family has been holidaying on a luxury boat moored in the Spanish island, and had been seen enjoying lunch on board. The couple were seen kissing and cuddling on deck.Their extravagant holiday comes as a surprise, given Becker's recent financial embarrassments.A judge in Majorca has ordered a house that Becker built be auctioned off, so that 225,000 pounds of the profits can be set aside to pay a long-standing debt which the he has been ruled to owe a local landscape gardening company.Forced to serve up divorce and paternity settlements that total more than 20 million pounds to his first wife, Barbara, and Angela Ermakova, the Russian model who had his baby after a notorious "knee trembler" on the stairs of a London restaurant, Becker had been trying to sell the villa for five years.According to a local estate agent, his original asking price 13 million pounds had been way over the top for a house of such "individual" design, especially in today's depressed market. And though he then slashed the price to 10 million pounds, still there were no takers.Humiliatingly, however, on the advice of a valuation expert the Palma judge this week had ruled that bidding at the enforced auction to be staged in court on September 28 must start at a comparatively paltry 6.8 million pounds. In a separate civil court hearing, also in Palma, a judge ordered him to hand a further 345,000 pounds to a local building firm that complained its bills for carpentry, electrical and plumbing jobs, and the laying of a basketball court, had also gone unpaid. In each case, Becker's lawyers had argued that the invoices ought to have been settled by estate agent Matthias Khun and Partner, who, they said, had agreed to pay for the property's upkeep while it had been on the market, recouping their outlay after the sale. But this argument had been rejected by both courts. (ANI)
