Adelaide Oval to host international cricket on Australia Day from 2014
Jul 20, 12:08 pm
Sydney, July 20 (ANI): South Australian Cricket Association (SACA) chief executive Keith Bradshaw has guaranteed that the Adelaide Oval will host international cricket on Australia Day from 2014.The schedule for the Australian summer was released on Thursday and Adelaide will only host two internationals - a Test against South Africa starting on November 22 and a one-day contest against Sri Lanka on January 13.The traditional Australia Day match will be held in Sydney this season - a Twenty20 against Sri Lanka - as the Adelaide Oval undergoes major redevelopment, news.com.au reports. But that will only be temporary, with the SACA getting an agreement from Cricket Australia, ensuring the fixture returns to Adelaide in 2014 and beyond."I'm comfortable that we've lent that match to Sydney, but just for this season. It's a position that has enabled us to negotiate the future of international matches here at Adelaide Oval on Australia Day
," Bradshaw said.South Australians normally get a bigger fix of international cricket. Last season, there was one Test and four ODI's - but the
SACA is prepared to take a short-term hit while the oval is upgraded. (ANI)
