'Beleaguered' Button says next two GPs crucial to salvage McLaren's season

   Jul 20, 6:17 pm

London, July 20(ANI): Jensen Button has said the next two races before the summer break is going to be pivotal for McLaren's current season after enduring a highly disappointing season so far, which has seen him placed at the eighth position right now in the driver's championship.

Button realises he and Lewis Hamilton need to improve at this weekend's race in Germany and the following event in Hungary if they want to rescue their season.

"The final back-to-back races before we head into the summer break will be important for the whole team. Coming off the back of a couple of disappointing weekends, it's important that we capitalise on the opportunities available in Germany and Hungary," The Sun quoted Button, as saying.

"I've always enjoyed Hockenheim. I raced here when it blasted through the forests - a long time ago. Performance-wise, I still think it's difficult to accurately predict where we stand in the competitive order - Valencia and Silverstone were certainly difficult races for us," he added.

"This year, you really need a problem-free build-up to the race if you're going to maximise the car's potential. That's what we'll be hoping for in Germany," he said.

McLaren have slumped to fourth in the constructors' championship behind Lotus and are on course for their worse finish since 2004. (ANI)
