'Furious' Mancini demands City wrap up Van Persie deal

London, July 27 (ANI): An angry Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has demanded the club wrap up the signing of Robin van Persie.

On the eve of City's friendly against Arsenal in London, Mancini aired his frustration at the club's failure to secure Van Persie and other transfer targets.

"I am not in charge of this. We have a man [Marwood] who works for this and we hope that they can do a good job. It is important to get players quickly because after what we did, it is important we continue to win," the Daily Star quoted Mancini, as saying.

"This year will not be easy. It will be harder and we need to improve our team. Van Persie is a fantastic player but it is difficult to talk about him because he is an Arsenal player," he added.

Mancini expressed his fury after seeing main rivals Chelsea and Manchester United beat City to the punch for two of his other targets, Belgium international Edin Hazard and Crewe starlet Nick Powell respectively.

City has also yet to sort a deal for a central defender as cover for Vincent Kompany and Joleon Lescott, with Liverpool 's Martin Skrtel a target.

Mancini is also irritated that players he ditched two years ago, Emmanuel Adebayor and Roque Santa Cruz, have still not been sold, taking around 1m pound a month out of the club in wages, the report said.

"City is not just a project of the owners or the people employed by the club, it is also my project. Hopefully in the future I will have a bigger impact than I already have," he said. (ANI)
