London, Aug. 2 (ANI): The London Organizing Committee for Olympics and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) has admitted that the armed forces now make up half of all security personnel at the Olympic Park.

Games organizers were forced to turn to troops after security contractor G4S admitted it did not have enough staff to patrol the venue in Stratford, The Daily Express reports.

The total number of military personnel involved in overall Olympics security now stands at more than 18,000, including 11,000 helping to secure Games venues, with the rest working in specialist roles.

Games organizer LOCOG said on Wednesday that 50 per cent military personnel, 40 per cent G4S employees and 10 per cent volunteers manned the Olympic Park.
