'Female Micheal Phelps' Franklin turns down $2m endorsement deals to go to college

   Aug 3, 12:20 pm

Washington, Aug.3 (ANI): American swimming sensation Missy Franklin, dubbed the female Michael Phelps, has reportedly turned down over two millions dollars in endorsements, to go to college and get a good education.

Franklin has stamped her name as a global star of the future, amidst other swimming champs like Chinese star Ye Shiwen, James Magnussen and 'Golden Boy' Phelps.

According to Sydney Morning Herald, Franklin, who is still trying to be a normal kid in high school, has reportedly decided to delay endorsement deals, something that could be a lucrative career as a professional member of the USA swimming squad to go to college and compete in the NCAA, a strictly amateur competition.

Her comparison with Phelps is lofty, but has some grounding in physiology at the very least, as like the Olympic great, she brings the kind of frame to the pool that makes her look she was created in a lab after a bespoke request by Team USA swimming coaches, the paper said.

Marketing experts have said the decision by Franklin, whose full name is Melissa Jeanette, could cost her millions of dollars in deals, where she could have been flashing her sparkly smile on toothpaste commercials or statuesque figure in sports apparel, it added. (ANI)
