Yankees' Facebook page hacker claims Jeter to undergo sex change operation

Washington, Aug. 3 (ANI): American Major Baseball League team New York Yankees ' Facebook page was filled with mocking messages for shortstop Derek Jeter after it got hacked.

The anonymous poster wrote that Jeter would miss the rest of the season due to a sex change operation.

"We regret to inform our fans that Derek Jeter will miss the rest of the season with sexual reassignment surgery," The New York Post quoted the hacker, as posting on the Yankees' Facebook page.

"He promises to come back stronger than ever in 2013 as Minnie Mantlez," the hacker added.

The gaffe, first noticed by the sports blog Deadspin, has since been removed from the team's Facebook page, but there were also several incidents involving other Major League franchises.

The Yankees issued an apology on the team's Facebook page.

"We apologize for anything inappropriate that appeared on the Yankees' Facebook page. The Yankees' Facebook page is controlled by Major League Baseball Advanced Media. They are looking into the false post in cooperation with Facebook," the Yankees post said.

Along with the Yankees, the Cubs, White Sox, Giants, Marlins, Padres and Nationals have all watched as their Facebook pages fell victim to similar hacks. (ANI)
