Olympic star Gabby Douglas blames dad for mom's bankruptcy problems

   Aug 7, 5:09 pm

New York, August 7 (ANI): US gymnast Gabby Douglas has held her father responsible for her mother Natalie Hawkins ' bankruptcy.

According to court records, Hawkins had filed for bankruptcy earlier this year in Virginia.

The 16-year-old sportsperson was open about the situation, blaming it on her father, a military man who recently was stationed in Afghanistan.

The family had lived in Virginia Beach but she moved to Des Moines two years ago to train for gymnastics.

"That's on my mom's side of the part. It was hard for us growing up - my dad had left us, so he wasn't really in the picture any more. So, my mom had to front all these bills," the New York Post quoted her as saying.

"My dad didn't really pay the child support. He was short (on money). It was definitely hard on my mom, taking care of me and my siblings.

But if you have more questions, feel free to contact my mom," she said. (ANI)
