George Michael slammed for song choice at Olympic closing ceremony

   Aug 13, 5:47 pm

London, August 13 (ANI): George Michael who decided to showcase a new song for his Olympic gig, was criticized for using the platform to promote his upcoming track.

This was the pop star's first performance after battling pneumonia last year.

While he was praised for his singing, he was criticized for using the event as an advertisement platform, the Mirror reported.

The 49-year-old was given two tracks to showcase why he represents British music and he weirdly chose a new material for his second song, which failed to impress spectators.

Even celebs took to twitter to hit out at the singer's poor choice of song.

"George - what are you doing. Let's hear Club Tropicana, Last Christmas, Careless Whisper - something ace we know - it's a party not an advert," Comedian John Bishop tweeted.

"He's making light work of that stage... don't know this one [song] though," Professor Green added. (ANI)
