Blues' Cahill insists Chelsea are next PL title contenders

London, Aug 19 (ANI): Chelsea striker Gary Cahill has insisted that Roberto Di Matteo's men will be the Premier League contenders this season.

Cahill claimed that winning the Champions League could be the biggest factor in the race for the next Premier League title and not which club gets to sign Robin van Persie.

"We are definitely title contenders with the squad we have got and the confidence we have because of what we did at the back end of last season. It will stand us in good stead going into this year," The Sun quoted Cahill, as saying.

He said that Manchester United may have swooped for Van Persie to bolster their squad after losing the title to City in the last minute of the season, but the Blues, who have been crowned kings of Europe are Premier League contenders this season.

"Van Persie would have an impact on any team he plays for. Teams are getting so strong but we have added to our squad so hopefully we will keep up with that and we are looking to go about our business," he said. (ANI)
