Mar 28, 11:13 am
London, Mar 28 (ANI): The Harry Potter series has made its e-book debut as all seven books are now available for download on Pottermore website. The first three books are available to download for 4.99 pounds each and the final four are for 6.99 pounds each. The bestsellers have never been available in digital format even though they have been widely available on file sharing sites."You have to take into consideration that there will be a lot of pent-up demand, people who have wanted to buy Harry Potter e-books but haven't been able to. There will also be a lot of people who want to buy the whole series," the Telegraph quoted Charlie Redmayne, chief executive of Pottermore, as telling The Bookseller. He also said that Pottermore planned to release enhanced editions of the Harry Potter books, possibly by this autumn. The publishers have made deals with leading booksellers, including Amazon, to ensure that the books are compatible with most popular e-readers. Those who want to read the books on an Amazon Kindle e-reader will still have to buy the books through Pottermore and then link the purchase to their Amazon account."We're excited that Harry Potter fans worldwide are now able to read JK Rowling's fantastic books on their Kindles and free Kindle reading apps," said Russ Grandinetti, Amazon's vice president of Kindle content. With the Harry Potter e-books available, it is expected that the Pottermore website
as a whole will now open. Announced in June last year, Pottermore was intended to open in October 2011 as an interactive universe dedicated to
Harry Potter. But so far access has been limited to a million beta testers, with technical problems delaying the full opening of the site. Earlier this month a statement on the site said that Pottermore would open in "early April". (ANI)
