Apple removes YouTube app from upcoming iPhone, iPad in latest snub to Google

   Aug 8, 10:42 am

London, Aug 8 (ANI): Tech giant Apple has announced that its upcoming version of iPhone and iPad software will not include a pre-loaded app for Google's popular video sharing website YouTube.

"Our license to include the YouTube app in iOS has ended, customers can use YouTube in the Safari browser and Google is working on a new YouTube app to be on the App Store," said an Apple spokesman.

According to The Telegraph, Apple's latest move signifies a further split with the Internet search giant Google.

Earlier this year at Apple's annual developers' conference, it was announced that the firm would be dropping Google Maps from the new version of its hugely popular iOS mobile operating system.

Apple announced that it would be creating its own maps app instead.

According to the paper, YouTube fans will now need to download the app like they would for every other service they want access to on their phone. (ANI)
