Now, 'Anonymous' hacktivists attempt to hack Oz national security agencies' sites

   Aug 10, 11:10 am

London, Aug 10 (ANI): Notorious hacking group "Anonymous" reportedly attempted to hack into the two most secure national security agencies sites in Australia.

The hacktivists attacked the websites of both the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO) and Defence Signals Directorate (DSD).

However, neither site of the security agencies was disrupted by the attempted attacks, and the ASIO said it did not carry any classified information on its public website www.asio.gov.au.

"ASIO's public website does not host any classified information and any disruption would not represent a risk to ASIO's business," The Telegraph quoted the ASIO, as saying, in a statement.

" Anonymous" had earlier announced the attack on Twitter and claimed that ASIO's website would be down for the rest of the day.

It also stated that it was attempting to hack the DSD site.

ASIO is responsible for domestic security, while the DSD monitors overseas electronic communications under the motto "Reveal their secrets, protect our own", the paper said. (ANI)
