Google to give employees benefits 'beyond the grave'

Sydney, Aug 10 (ANI): Employees at web giant Google not only benefit from fabulous perks, including gourmet food, on-site doctors and free haircuts, but will also get new "death benefits", an official at the firm has revealed.

Google's chief people officer Laszlo Bock has said employees will be given new "death benefits", which means that they would be covered not just in life, but even after death.

The never-before-released details of the tech giant's ' perks program' include an amazing benefit that if a Googler dies while under the tech giant's employment, their spouse or life partner will receive 50 per cent of their salary for the next decade.

"One of the things we realized recently was that one of the harshest but most reliable facts of life is that at some point most of us will be confronted with the death of our partners," News.com.au quoted Bock, as saying.

According to the report, under the perks scheme, along with 50 per cent of their partner's salary for a decade, surviving spouses will also have access to their partner's shares in the company.

It also claimed that 'benefits' extend to all employees and do not require any tenure or accruement, and if a couple has children, they will receive 1000 dollars a month until the age of 19, or 23 if the child is a full-time student.

However, a spokesperson for Google Australia was unable to tell whether the same death benefits extended to the Australian employees of the firm, but said that the web giant does have "provisions" in the event of the death of a ' Googler'. (ANI)
