Border-Gavaskar Trophy: Australian stars who can make an impact against India
The first Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia will start from Thursday onwards. Ahead of the first Test, let us have a look at Australian stars who can make an impact during the series and make India toil hard for each run, wicket or win.

Steve Smith
This Aussie batting star has an exceptional batting record in Indian conditions. In six matches and 12 innings, he has scored 660 runs at an average of 60.00. Three centuries and a fifty have come out of his bat, with the best score of 178*. With such numbers, Smith is a clear threat and Indian bowlers will have to come up with good strategies to outpower him.

Usman Khawaja
Though Khawaja does not have a good Test record against India so far, he has been one of the longer format's leading players since his recall in early 2022. He scored 1,080 runs in 11 matches at an average of 67.50 with four tons and five fifties and a career-best of 195. It will be interesting to see how he will fare in subcontinent conditions this time.

Marnus Labuschagne
The world's number one Test batter has a good record against India, having scored 464 runs in five matches with a ton and two fifties. His range of shots, ability to stay for long at the crease and convert good starts into big scores will surely make him a threat.

Nathan Lyon
In spin-friendly conditions of India, there is very little doubt on Lyon's ability and chances to succeed. He already has 34 wickets in seven matches. He will no doubt be the biggest threat India will face.

Scott Boland
In his short Test career so far, Scott Boland has been pretty impressive. He has already taken 28 wickets in six matches and is known to be an extreme miser when it comes to leaking runs, with his bowling average being 12.21. He can also take a wicket every 30 balls or so, as suggested by his strike rate of 33.2. In absence of likes of Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc and Cameron Green, he is someone Aussies would genuinely want to succeed.
